The project In Progress challenged designers to rethink the notion of progress. We responded by making a statement about uncritical innovation. We created three still lifes, made of 3D-printed human ashes, in which the visual language was used of vanitas paintings of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

Banal contemporary electrical devices, such as a toaster or a vacuum cleaner, become reminders of the transient nature of life. Life is short, regardless of our vain ambitions and immense sense of pride.
