When the clock strikes twelve... Studio Wieki Somers explored the increasing destruction of insect habitats through urbanisation in the Beetle Clock. Symbolising the ticking of time for ecosystems, two beetles chase time around the age rings of a tree trunk and highlight the importance of small creatures within the larger chain of effects.
The Beetle Clock is one of the four commissioned works for the celebration of the 40 years anniversary of the watch retail group The Hour Glass. Next to the studio, Marc Newson, Nendo and Daniel Arsham designed and made a ‘time’ related object.
